GABE SZABO, President & CEO

Gabe’s impressive resume includes more than 25 years of progressive experience in the Healthcare industry, including medical devices and Over-The-Counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals. Extremely adept in strategic planning, sustainable growth strategies and attracting, retaining and developing talent, he is driven by a desire to help end users and patients enjoy a better quality of life through innovative products, professional education for physicians/surgeons and knowledgeable sales staff.


Gabe brings to Proximo over 25 years of commercial leadership experience in healthcare. Before Proximo, Gabe was the Vice President of the CAPLA Region (Canada, Asia Pacific, and Latin America) for Spectranetics Corp where he was responsible for driving accelerated growth in developing and emerging markets around the world including China, Japan, India, Australia, and Latin America.  Prior to this role, Gabe was the Vice President of Global Marketing responsible for the strategic direction and portfolio planning for SPNCs vascular intervention business.  He was a member of the executive team that enabled the successful acquisitions of AngioScore and Stellarex.

Before to joining Spectranetics, Gabe held several leadership positions at J&J.  Gabe was the Vice President of Global Portfolio Solutions at Ethicon where he led a task force responsible for capturing significant growth in Emerging Markets especially China.  Gabe was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Ethicon Endo Surgery responsible for +500 commercial professionals and annual revenues over $1B.  He was the integration leader for Ethicon Inc.’s $1B acquisition of Mentor Corp.

Prior to Mentor Corporation, Gabe was the Vice President and General Manager for Closure Medical where he had responsibility for overall strategy and execution of the newly acquired surgical adhesive company.  Additionally, he had functional responsibilities for marketing, operations, R&D, quality, regulatory, and finance.

Gabe has held additional leadership roles in Product Development and Marketing for companies including J&J/Merck, McNeil CPC, Eli Lilly, General Electric and Dow Chemical.

Gabe earned his MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.
